EcoSeed is a large farming company in Europe. Lately, the market has been highly regulated by new policies which affect every player in the food production chain, from raw material producers to end consumers.
On top of that, their board of directors pays much attention to having a sustainable way of doing business while causing the least possible impact on the environment. They have always used manual testing, but as they grew larger and larger, the costs have become unbearable, and their yield has decreased slightly. They started to suspect that there may be an issue that the manual testing could not detect, and they needed to pinpoint it before continuing their expansion process and acquiring even more land. SmartCloudFarming implemented their Carbon Monitoring Software, and thanks to it, the company was able to get reliable measurements almost on a real-time basis. They discovered several parts of some of their properties were misused, not suitable for production, and even de-regenerated, causing the opposite effect. Our reports allowed them to put in place a contingency plan, and one year later, their measurements showed better land regeneration potential and greater yield.
EcoSeed is a large farming company that has been highly regulated for the past three years. On top of that, their board of directors pays much attention to having a sustainable way of doing business while causing the least possible impact on the environment. One of their main goals is increasing land regeneration within their properties year after year by at least 4%.
The challenge was to provide the company with a system that allowed them to measure their topsoil carbon throughout their property. The issue was the timeline, they needed to finalize a full Environmental Report that accounted for their current status and progress towards their goal, and their existing data was unreliable.
SmartCloudFarming implemented their Carbon Monitoring Software and applied an advanced feature that allowed them to go back to the past and analyze the previous 12 months of their property and produce an in-depth analytic report accounting for the soil’s evolution within that time frame.
The report successfully produced a detailed evolution on their soil’s regeneration status throughout the past year, proving their improvement plan yielded. Also, it detected several spots where advanced soil regeneration was taking place, and they did not know that since manual samplings were not performed in that specific sector.
- Land regeneration grew during the past year (and they could measure it from the present).
- They discovered highly regenerated sectors that were unknown (and will now be taken advantage of).
“We believed we were not going to be able to comply with the report. We found out that our manual testing data was unreliable, and the year was lost. SmartCloud Farming miraculously was able to travel to the past and collect the information. Now we know we are on the right track!” – [S.L., project manager].
